In memory of Turkish Cypriot Birkan Uzun, who climbed the highest points of the world's 5 continents with the goal of "7 Continents, 7 Summits" and flew the TRNC flag, but lost his life as a result of an unfortunate accident in the USA, various scholarships will be given to students who are studying at secondary education level in the country or who are entitled to go to university. .
At the press conference held today at the Ministry of National Education, it was announced that scholarships will be provided by the Cyprus Foundations Administration (Evkaf), the Turkish Maarif College Education, Science and Culture Foundation (TMK Foundation), the Nicosia Capital Lions Club and the Businessperson Fırat İleri "in order to raise Birkan Uzunlar". .
In this context, Turkish Cypriot Businessperson Fırat İleri will provide a one-time support of 100 thousand TL to a student who is a senior in a high school in Cyprus, has been accepted from a foreign university, has a grade point average of over 9.5/10, and has strong social and sports aspects. and will be a mentor to the student in choosing a university and career.
The Lefkoşa Capital Lions Club will provide financial scholarships annually to an economically disadvantaged and versatile student with an average of 9.50/10 above, studying at Birkan Uzun's school, TMK. In addition, it will organize events, including a summer camp, in order to spread the vision and mission of Birkan Uzun to the youth.
TMK Foundation, on behalf of Birkan Uzun, will provide a scholarship to a successful student studying at TMK. It will increase the number of scholarships with the support of other foundations and organizations. Details about Bursa will be announced in the coming days.
On the other hand, the Foundations Administration will offer a scholarship program that students from all schools can apply on behalf of Birkan Uzun, and the details will be announced later.
In the meeting, along with the Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, officials of the institutions that will provide scholarships also took part and made statements about the scholarships.
