Carrying a 452-Year-Old Tradition of Kindness to the Present, the Book of “Awqaf Correspondence Fund” Revealed with Evidence Extending to 150 Years

The "Evkaf Correspondence Fund" book, which describes the foundations of the civilization of goodness carried out with the efforts of the Cyprus Foundations Administration for 452 years on our island, composed of correspondence samples from the history of Turkish Cypriot Foundations, was prepared by the Director of the TRNC National Archive and Research Department, Dr. Prepared by Ejdan Grand Vizier.

The book, which was created by the combination of 62 archive boxes and more than 7000 documents in 8 years, dealing with 150 years of life, was presented to the information of researchers with the support of Evkaf.

The book, which is one of the most comprehensive Ottoman archive studies carried out in Cyprus to date, has the richness to be a primary source for the studies of researchers and related people.

Making statements during the book presentation, Evkaf General Manager Prof. Dr İbrahim Benter stated that 300 years ago, our grandparents brought the civilization of kindness to the island in order to improve the society, and that nearly 2200 foundations were established for this purpose.

We have a history to be proud of, our duty here is to teach our young people the civilization of goodness inherited from our ancestors, Benter said that as Foundations, they have created a new fund for master and doctoral students who want to do research. Benter stated that researchers will contribute to the publication of scientific articles by providing the necessary sponsorship after their application to the Foundation, and that this way, both young people will be able to learn about our history and by supporting the scientific literature, we will be able to announce our history to the whole world.
