A Scientist, One of the Great Representatives of the History of Astronomy: Takiyüddin Muhammed B. Ma'ruf
Takiyüddin, whose works were exhibited in the Turkish-Islamic History of Science in 100 Objects, which met our country last November and accepted guests until the end of February, was born in Damascus in 1526. He is an astronomer, engineer, mathematician and mechanical scientist.
Takiyüddin, one of the most important astronomers of the Ottoman Empire and known as the last great representative of the history of astronomy, is a very important inventor who broke new ground with his studies in the fields of mathematics and astronomy.
He is regarded as the original inventor of the telescope. Both the state's construction of the only observatory and many other discoveries in the field of astronomy and mathematics are references for the whole world today.
Tools such as a water pump, a rotating machine, and a lever lever invented by Takiyüddin were exhibited at the Turkish-Islamic History of Science in 100 Objects Exhibition.
