Hafsa Sultan, the beloved daughter of Mengli Giray Han, was drinking coffee in the garden of the complex one day. He saw the devastated state of two families who brought their sick children to the hospital (treatment center) inside. He asked the head physician beside him:

-What is this, chief physician?

-Relatives of patients who come to treatment, my Valide Sultan.

-What do these people eat and drink during their stay here?

Chief Physician had to keep quiet. Because such a service in and around the treatment center did not exist yet. As important as human health is, wasn't this need of every person in need of food and drink at least as important as health, no matter who they are? This need had to be met immediately.

The last sip of coffee was left in the cup. Because from that moment the preparations had begun. The main service of the foundation to be established was to provide free food to the needy every day. Valide Sultan gave the following instruction:

-Register my name as "Girl of Crimean Khan Mengli Giray, wife of Yavuz Sultan Selim Han".

The specifications of the foundation, which was established in 1522, were as follows:

From now on, food will be cooked in this almshouse for the sake of Allah every day! Bring the pot to the boil twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. This food can be served to everyone who is poor, to the students of the madrasa learning science, to the scholars and righteous people in the complex in question, to all the guests who come to this almshouse, whether they are poor or rich. In the meantime, no obstacles will be placed on anyone who is in need and wants to feed himself.
