The night connecting the 14th day of the month of Sha'ban to the 15th day, which is considered sacred in Islam is the night of Berat, one of the nights. Berat; means to be saved, to be cleared, to be forgiven comes. The believers are expected to get rid of the burden of sin with worship and prayers this night and receive Divine forgiveness. It is called "the night of Berat" in accordance with its dictionary meaning.

In the Tafsirs,there are also explanations about the night as follows: When the tax is paid, just as the tax if the debtor is given a document showing that he is free from his debt, Allah Azza wa Jalla also gives Berat. He writes a Berat to his believing servants on the Night of Allah. Already this night has four names: "Blessed Night", "Night of Bera'ee", "Night of Sakk (document and deed)" (Allah (swt) gives His believing servants author)", "Night of Mercy".

The name "KANDIL" was given to our holy nights in the 16th century, in the Ottoman. It started in the Empire with Sultan Selim II's order to light oil lamps in minarets and this our nights have taken the name of candlemas. The night of Berat is the night when the Qur'an was downloaded wholesale from the Levh-i Mahfuz to the Earth's sky. Berat Kandili, where it is believed that prayers will not be rejected, in terms of our faith and worship life is seen as a great opportunity for our spiritual feelings.

Berat Kandili, which is the harbinger of Ramadan, is on Saturday 24 February 2024 this year will be realised. On this night, we should forget resentments, face our souls, forgive and we must strengthen our feelings of forgiveness.
