The sun was starting to sink towards the hills across the Bosphorus. Sultan Selim II was resting in front of his tent. The apricots, sergeant grapes and black mulberries on the fruit plate presented to him looked so good that the sultan could not resist.

-What beautiful fruits are these? From which vineyard, from which garden?

The servant asked for help and answered:

-My sultan is from the vineyard of our teacher Cafer Çelebi in Üsküdar. The sultan began to pluck a large bunch of grapes, two by two, and put it in his mouth, and said, “Mashallah! What a beautiful gardener he was," he expressed his satisfaction. Cafer Çelebi, the cousin of the famous sheikh al-Islam Ebussuud Efendi, was chatting with his friends in his garden in Üsküdar when he heard this plea. He was delighted. He said to his entourage:

-Since we have a vineyard-garden so beautiful that even the sultan would like it… These beauties should not be ruined after us.

-What order do you have, Çelebim? That's right: trees and flowers were also living things. They were the ornaments of the world. With these thoughts, he wrote the following on the deed of the foundation he established: “There will be a gardener who has a good understanding of viticulture. It will do perfectly in the care and protection of gardens; and the maintenance expenses of the garden will be covered by the rent of the two houses in the village of Istavroz and the income from fruits and flowers. And… Cafer Çelebi Efendi foundation was established in Istanbul in 1569: it has vineyards, gardens; It has not been forgotten as a foundation that serves trees and flowers, that is, the environment, and reminds other people of this beautiful service, and has carried its name to the present day.
