The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has taken steps towards an important project to protect and digitize immovable cultural assets bearing the traces of the Ottoman Foundation Civilization. Within the framework of the article titled "Protection of Cultural Heritage" of the 2025 Economic and Financial Cooperation Agreement signed between the Republic of Turkey and the TRNC on March 21, 2025, inventory studies have officially begun.

In this context, the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Cyprus Foundations Administration have been determined as the institutions responsible for the implementation of this project. The studies will be carried out with the aim of documenting all immovable cultural heritage in Cyprus and converting it into a digital database.

On June 23, 2025, the delegation led by Mr. Kadir Kantekin, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the General Directorate of Foundations of the Republic of Turkey, held an important meeting with the authorities in the TRNC. During the meetings, the scope of the inventory study, the methodologies to be applied and the relations with the stakeholders with whom cooperation will be made were discussed in detail. The work is planned to be completed by the end of 2025.

As part of the project, various visits will be organized today to explore the rich cultural heritage of Cyprus more closely. These visits will cover historical sites such as the Closed Maraş Region, Bilal Ağa Mosque, Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque and Madrasah, Kutup Osman Tomb and Lodge.

This initiative, which is of great importance in terms of preserving historical heritage and transferring it to future generations, will also contribute to the strengthening of cultural interaction and common historical awareness. The inventory to be prepared will serve as an important reference source for restoration projects and will be an accessible source in the digital environment.
