A "Cooperation Protocol on the Assignment of Police to Tourists in the Walled City" was signed between the Cyprus Foundations Administration and the General Directorate of Police in the Walled City of Nicosia. The comprehensive protocol aims to ensure the safety, comfort, cleanliness, and effective operation of lighting facilities in response to the increasing tourist visits in the Walled City of Nicosia.

The General Directorate of Police has assigned a "Tourist Police" unit to the Walled City, ensuring regional security and public order, as well as providing guidance services with foreign-language police officers. Police equipment also ensures rapid response to incidents, ensuring the priority for both local residents and the surrounding area.

The Cyprus Foundations Administration provides the necessary spatial and logistical support for the effective operation of police units at foundation properties within the Walled City. It also provides support for the preparation and distribution of informative training on reproduction. Foundation properties, such as the building next to the Sultan Mahmud II Library, have been made available for the Tourism Police to provide services.

After launching in İskele on August 18, 2025, the Tourism Police system became operational in Nicosia and Kyrenia on September 22. Police officers, stationed in the Walled City area of ​​Nicosia and the Old Tourism Marina in Kyrenia, patrol from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM on weekdays and from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM on weekends.
