In order to increase environmental awareness and create public awareness, a meaningful environmental event was held with the contributions of Evkaf İyilik Volunteers, Lefke Municipality and valuable sponsors. This event, organized under the name of “Clean Lefke Movement”, was held around the Cengiz Topel Monument, one of the symbolic points of the Lefke region.

The event attracted great interest from local people, civil society organizations, environmental groups and students. In addition, the Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Cyprus Office Jakhongir Khaydarov and his team also attended and supported the event. This participation once again demonstrated the importance given to environmental protection efforts at the international level.

During the event that started in the morning, 76 volunteers worked with great dedication and collected a total of 167 garbage bags full of waste. The amount of waste disposed of reached 1,100 kilograms. As a result of this intense effort, an area of ​​approximately 50,000 square meters was cleaned and returned to nature. Work was also carried out on the separation of waste throughout the event; Recyclable materials such as plastic, glass and metal were separated and included in the recycling process appropriately.

During the event, participants shared the happiness of protecting nature and social solidarity. The pride of contributing to the natural beauties of Lefke and preserving the environmental values ​​of the region was reflected on the faces of the participants throughout the day. In the short ceremony held after the event, certificates of appreciation were presented to the volunteers who contributed to the organization and the sponsoring organizations that provided support.

In the statement made on behalf of Evkaf İyilik Volunteers, it was emphasized that environmental cleaning should not be limited to a one-day activity and that it is important to leave a cleaner and more livable Lefke for the future by supporting it with sustainable environmental policies. Lefke Municipality officials also invited the local people to participate in such events and act with environmental awareness.

The Clean Lefke Movement did not only collect waste; it also created a strong awareness in society about environmental sensitivity, allowing us to look to the future with hope.
