The book titled “A Brief History of the Foundations Administration in Cyprus” by Hakkı Atun, the former Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Turkey and the former Prime Minister of the TRNC, was introduced. The book was introduced to the public at a press conference held by Benter and Atun at the Foundations Administration.

The book, which begins with the forewords of President Ersin Tatar and General Manager of Foundations Administration Benter, contains various historical documents.

“IN THE PAST, HE WAS LEAVING ONE OF HIS TWO HOUSES TO HIS CHILDREN, AND HE DONATED THE OTHER”

Speaking at the press conference, General Manager of Foundations Administration İbrahim Benter, reminding that Evkaf has various duties such as sharing and doing good, stated that the Turkish Cypriot people acted with these feelings and thoughts in the past and led a life free from selfishness.

Benter stated that "in the past, he left one of his two houses to his children and dedicated the other to his children," adding that kindness and sharing would save the world.

“FOUNDATION ITEMS WERE UNLAWFULLY TRANSFERRED TO PERSONS OVER TIME”

Benter said that over time, foundation properties were illegally transferred to individuals, and the closest example of this was in Covered Maraş, and continued his words as follows:

“When you go to Varosha, the first thing you will see is the Muslim cemeteries that were given to someone to be rich. It does not fit humanity anywhere in the world. Or it was given to someone for the construction of fields, lands, hotels where school needs are met. What will happen to poor students? Nobody take care."

“A FOUNDATION PROPERTY IS FOUNDATION PROPERTY FOREVER”

Emphasizing that the lands he mentioned should be returned to the Foundations, Benter said, “Everyone accepts that Maraş has been the property of the Foundation for 300 years. A foundation property is a foundation property forever.”

Finally, Benter thanked Hakkı Atun for the book and said, "I hope it will be included in the education curriculum."

ATUN: “FOUNDATION GOODS CANNOT CHANGE HANDS”

Hakkı Atun, on the other hand, pointed out that the majority of teachers who trained previous generations were trained by Evkaf and said, “The legendary teachers Tevfik Alirıaz, Dr. Hüsnü Feridun… All of them are professors who have been trained by the scholarships given by the Foundations.”

Stating that the foundation's properties cannot change hands and this situation is accepted in international law, Atun noted that the European Union Ombudsman has also published a report in this direction.
