Stating that the institution has been doing charities and good deeds in Cyprus for 450 years and benefiting the society in various ways, Benter said that the first Turkish flag in Cyprus was hoisted in this garden in 1956, when the Administration of Foundations was transferred from the British to the Turks. Stating that 8 March Women's Day is very important for them, Benter emphasized that 2,200 foundations were established by her grandmothers and grandfathers in Cyprus and said, "This shows how sensitive our ancestors were in charity work and doing good." said. Stating that the Foundations provide the necessary assistance to the poor people to increase production, Benter noted that their ancestors, the Foundations, which helped the poor, educated and served the elderly at their homes, protected stray animals, planted trees, and married singles, were considering all kinds of assistance. Pointing out that half of the 2,200 hundred foundations established were founded by women, Benter emphasized that the first and last foundation established by Cypriots in Cyprus was founded by a woman. “Our grandmothers established these foundations by showing these sensitivities hundreds of years ago, and the foundation established by one of our grandmothers 300 years and 400 years ago has educated poor children for centuries. We are still giving scholarships to our students and repairing our schools with the income of these foundations today,” said Benter, emphasizing that when they established these foundations, they helped without discrimination of nationality, race and religion and set an example to the whole world. Expressing that they remember their ancestors and grandmothers who founded foundations in the past, Benter stated that he is happy to present plaques to some foundation representatives today. Benter said that more than half of those who run foundations and charitable works today are women, just like the grandparents who established foundations centuries ago, and said, “We call them contemporary foundations.
