Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Dr. A seminar on "Zehravi's Artifact and Instruments from a Modern Surgical Perspective" was held in cooperation with Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty and Cyprus Foundations Administration.

On Monday, January 10, 2022, at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall, Dr. The seminar given by Ömer Faruk İnanç was attended by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Demirel, General Manager of Cyprus Foundations Administration, Prof. Dr. Ibrahim F. Benter, Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Nahide Gökçora, Deputy Dean Prof. Dr. Ethem Income and medical faculty students attended.

In that seminar, Dr. İnanç talked about the history of surgery, the firsts and turning points in surgery, and gave information about Zehravi, who is considered the father of surgery in Europe.

Dr. Stating that Zehravi was a Muslim physician and surgeon who lived in Andalusia, İnanç emphasized that Zehravi, one of the leading physicians of the world in the Middle Ages, was accepted as the father of surgery in Europe.

Stating that Zehravi's greatest contribution to medicine is his book, Kitab al-Tasrif, which consists of 30 volumes, Dr. İnanç shared with the participants the pictures showing that the surgical instruments invented by Zehravi at that time were very similar to those used today. Dr. In his presentation, İnanç said, "When there is a suitable quality environment that allows science, names like Zehravi who become stars in their field will continue to emerge from among us."
