As part of the 450th anniversary of the Cyprus Foundations Administration (EVKAF), an organization is held on March 8, International Women's Day, to commemorate the women who founded foundations in the past, and those who establish foundations today and also strive to do good.

The Cyprus Foundations Administration will convey its gratitude to our sensitive women who work voluntarily both by establishing a foundation and for the needs of the society, by presenting a plaque. The program will take place on Monday, March 8, 2021, at 11:00, at the Cyprus Foundations Administration with the participation of President Ersin Tatar.

The following statements were used in the continuation of the statement made by EVKAF:

“The first foundations in Cyprus were established by women. Hundreds of years ago, our grandmothers established hundreds of foundations and set an example for the whole world in kindness. There are over 1000 foundations established by women in Cyprus. The foundations established by women in Cyprus are also an indication of the importance of women in the society during the Ottoman period. Women were not a lagging factor in the Ottoman Empire, they were in a position to take important decisions, own property and take steps for social benefit.

Thanks to the foundations established by our women, all kinds of social responsibility projects have been implemented in the society for years, and it has been instrumental in helping our people who have no assets to be useful to their families/society by renting fields, land, and shops cheaply. These aids were made without any discrimination based on nationality, religion or race, and a lesson in humanity was given to the world hundreds of years ago. These days, financial support is provided to schools, student scholarships are provided, students' clothing, clothing, tablet and stationery needs are purchased. In the field of health, patients are taken care of by supporting hospitals and helping patients meet their needs.

It is women who have the most important role in the social development of societies. We have very valuable women in our past who showed us this. The charity of our women, who lived with the spirit of the foundation and set an example, continues even after hundreds of years. Bless their souls. We would like to thank all women who continue these meaningful behaviors today and celebrate women's day.
