A sponsorship protocol was signed between the Cyprus Foundations Administration (Evkaf) and the TRNC Disabled Sports Federation Wheelchair Basketball Team.

The Protocol regarding the payment of the expenses related to all the activities of the Wheelchair Basketball Team affiliated to the TRNC Disabled Sports Federation by the Foundations Administration was signed in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Energy Sunat Atun, the Board of Directors of the Foundations Administration and the guests at the press conference held at the Foundations Administration.

Speaking at the press conference, President of the Sports Federation for the Disabled Ahmet Akdeniz said, “On this meaningful day, we add the Wheelchair Basketball Team of the TRNC Disabled Sports Federation, which represents our country with success in Turkey and on the international platform, under the auspices of the Foundations Administration. I would like to express my gratitude for adding us to their patronage in a way that befits the spirit of the foundations.”

Stating that the Foundations Administration has made great contributions not only today, but also from the past to the present, Ahmet Akdeniz said, "Many chairs used by fellow athletes today have a structure that does not look like their European counterparts. Whatever chair and equipment the disabled person uses in Europe today, our disabled also use it. Foundations contribute to us on the basis of this. I hope that such opportunities in our country will be increased by being an example to other institutions and that 6 thousand disabled people living in our country will be created equal opportunities.”

In his speech, General Manager of Foundations Administration, İbrahim Benter said, “As Foundations, we will make very good projects with the already very successful Wheelchair Basketball Team. We will keep our goals high and experience championships together in our country, Turkey and Europe. We would like to thank our Honorable Minister Sunat Atun, who contributed to the achievement of this issue, and the Board of Directors for their approval.”

Benter said, “We have 7 disabled employees working in foundations, and when we look at the performance of these employees over the years, we have seen that these personnel are able to fulfill their assigned tasks at the highest performance level when given the opportunity.”

Lastly, Benter stated that the President of the Disabled Solidarity Association visited them in the morning and the message they gave there was that "if we work hard and unite, there is nothing we cannot achieve".
