Our Struggle for Extorted Evkaf Properties Has Not Just Begun
Turkish Cypriot leaders and intellectuals had been fighting for the Awqaf properties that had been systematically seized and reduced since the 1900s. One of the most important issues on the agenda before 1960 was the return of Evkaf properties to the Turkish Cypriots.
In 1954, the Turkish Cypriot people came to the point of revolt due to the looting of the Evkaf properties under the control of the British.
Over the years, large-scale rallies were held to protest the usurpation of Evkaf properties.
