A Protocol on Fair Play Signed Between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus National Olympic Committee and the Cyprus Evkaf Administration
A protocol for the Fair Play Award was signed between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus National Olympic Committee and the Cyprus Evkaf Administration with the aim of promoting the concept of fair play, a universal value of sport, throughout society and strengthening an ethical sports culture.
The protocol aims to encourage athletes, sports administrators, and young people in accordance with the principles of gentlemanliness, honesty, respect, and solidarity; to make visible exemplary behaviors reflecting the spirit of sportsmanship; and to pass these values on to future generations.
The parties aim to support sportsmanship awareness at the institutional level and to create an award mechanism that will make this understanding sustainable through this cooperation.
Making a statement regarding the protocol, the President of the TRNC National Olympic Committee, Orçun Kamalı, said:
“The cooperation protocol we signed today is an important milestone in strengthening the understanding of sportsmanship (Fair Play), which forms the spirit of sport.
The sustainable continuation of the Sportsmanship (Fair Play) awards with the support of the Cyprus Evkaf Administration will make a significant contribution to the dissemination of values that will serve as an example for the younger generation.
Our aim is not only sporting success; it is to build together a sports culture that centers on honesty, respect, and social solidarity. I wish this meaningful cooperation to be beneficial for our country and our youth.”
The General Director of the Cyprus Evkaf Administration, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer, in his speech at the signing ceremony, emphasized that the Cyprus Evkaf Administration has always supported all institutions and organizations that benefit society and that this support will continue to increase. Stating that the institution acts with a strong sense of social responsibility, Tümer expressed that they attach great importance to the development of sports.
Prof. Dr. Tümer, in this context, reminded that the Cyprus Evkaf Administration is the main sponsor of the Evkaf Wheelchair Basketball Team, and stated that they support disabled individuals to participate more strongly and actively in society through sports. Expressing his belief in the unifying and healing power of sports, Tümer noted that supporting athletes in all areas is of great importance.
Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer touched upon the role undertaken by the National Olympic Committee, stating that it is possible for athletes to operate internationally without any embargo or restrictions thanks to the work carried out by the National Olympic Committee. He stated that such collaborations are extremely valuable for the development of sports and for the country's athletes to be able to participate more strongly in the international arena.
